Thoughts of the day
Illustrator Lucy Bellwood was participating in a 100-day project, where she had to produce a new piece of work daily. She tackled the task by taking the daunting feeling of having a commitment, and transforming it into what she describes as “a collection of comics for anyone who deals with a little voice in their head that says ‘you’re no good.’”
Whenever she could feel one of her demons manifesting, she turned it into a drawing. Beyond the productive implications of turning one’s anxieties into art, perhaps the most powerful message here is the act of recognising them instead of ignoring them. And, a quick look at her work will reveal that some of our demons are surprisingly universal.
