Thoughts of the day
If plans are destined to fail, does this make the act of making them futile?
Winston Churchill allegedly said:
“Plans are of little importance, but planning is essential.”
The truth is, no one knows what a day may bring, but taking a few minutes in the morning to plan it might at least cast some light on what events we would find to be the most desirable. Thus, planning becomes an aspirational act, a form of diary-keeping in reverse.
Even if planning something does not always mean its eventual achievement, the mere act of planning gives birth to two potentially even more important outcomes: having a glimpse of what is ahead, and figuring out what is important. How we get there does not matter much.
