Thoughts of the day
Self-sabotaging can come in many forms. Not believing in oneself, not believing in what life is sending our way, or simply not managing to appreciate or enjoy where we currently stand, be it due to worry, stress or some other form of creeping anxiety.
Bill Murray, a man with a successful career and with an even more admirable ability to always remain candid, summarised his secret in a few simple words:
"I realized the more fun I had, the more relaxed I was working, the better I worked [...] The more relaxed you are, the better you are at everything: the better you are with your loved ones, the better you are with your enemies, the better you are at your job, the better you are with yourself."
Being relaxed may not be the secret to the elusive concept of happiness. Perhaps the secret is to remember to enjoy whatever it is we are doing, with no end goal and no agenda, but with the reassurance that it will either make us more pleasant to be around, or make what is around us more pleasant.
