Thoughts of the day
A very short Brain Food for today, as humanity’s 1984 reenactment continues.
In the dystopian novel, Orwell wrote:
“War is peace.
Freedom is slavery.
Ignorance is strength.”
These uncanny words continue to sound familiar, decades later. If you despair at the horrors of the world, you are not alone. One turns to Viktor Frankl and his treatise on man’s search for meaning in the bleakest of circumstances:
“But there was no need to be ashamed of tears, for tears bore witness that a man had the greatest of courage, the courage to suffer.”
The sheer power of Picasso’s Guernica is impossible to convey through a digital format, but its timeless message is still clear. Not all weapons have to be violent.
Allegedly, a German Gestapo officer saw a photograph of the painting and asked Picasso, “Did you do that?” Picasso’s response: “No, you did.”
