Thoughts of the day
Life, especially in the beginning, is about accumulation. Accumulation of knowledge, accumulation of relationships, accumulation of experiences, accumulation of wealth. But there is a point at which it starts being about choosing what to keep, and what to let go of.
Letting go can come in many forms. One can let go of the past, and the inevitable act of attempting to change it. One can let go of daily habits or behaviours that don't contribute to our wellbeing. One can -gently- let go of relationships that do not bring as much fulfillment as they used to.
A less cluttered life, in which there will be fewer things to demand our attention, can leave enough space to see and focus on what matters.
Danish painter Vilhelm Hammershøi lets the light in through his paintings, as he depicts still, empty rooms, that carry a meditative mood with them. Whether they look as if they are lacking something or not is up to the viewer to interpret.
