Thoughts of the day
Happy Friday.
At this point in time, 272 million people are living in a country that is not their own. I am one of those people. I wonder what they think of the concept of home.
Home, it seems, is not a country. And the meaning of home may not be the place that we are unwilling to leave, but one that we will always look forward to return to.
It is why Odysseus left Ithaca, and many others after him left metaphorical and literal Ithacas, only to spend a lifetime struggling to return. Perhaps home is a place where the people and the culture meet the self at the right time, the latter also undergoing change in this constant quest.
