Thoughts of the day
Following her divorce with Diego Rivera in 1939 (though they remarried a year later), celebrated Mexican artist Frida Kahlo painted The Two Fridas, a painting depicting her inner turmoil, her separation from an important part of her life, and her reliance on herself for sustenance.
Through a challenging time in her life, she becomes her own best friend. Our severance from something brings us closer to another part of ourselves.
But, beyond this, the painting serves as a reminder that we are never the same person, always changing, always carrying a different side of ourselves within us.
